ChatGPT

Connect ChatGPT to Things from a browser. Ask about your tasks or make changes in a chat.

Before you start

  • You need a paid ChatGPT plan with developer mode, plus your Things Cloud email and password.
  • Use chatgpt.com in a browser. Developer-mode apps are not available in the ChatGPT phone app.

Add Plus to ChatGPT

Computer browser

  1. On chatgpt.com, open your profile menu and choose Settings → Security and login. Turn on Developer mode.
  2. Open Plugins → + → Create app. In some versions, the form is under Settings → Apps → Advanced settings → Create app.
  3. Enter Plus for Things 3 as the name, paste the address above as the MCP server URL and choose OAuth for authentication.
  4. Confirm that you trust the app and click Create. ChatGPT opens the Plus sign-in page, sometimes only when you first use the app.

Phone browser

Use chatgpt.com in Safari or Chrome. The ChatGPT phone app cannot create or use developer-mode apps.

  1. Open chatgpt.com, sign in, then open your profile menu and Settings → Security and login. Turn on Developer mode.
  2. In Settings, open Apps → Advanced settings → Create app.
  3. Name it Plus for Things 3, paste the address above as the MCP server URL and choose OAuth.
  4. Confirm that you trust the app and tap Create. ChatGPT opens the Plus sign-in page, sometimes only when you first use the app.

Finish connecting

  1. Sign in with your Things Cloud email and password, then accept the terms. Plus uses your password once to connect and does not store it.
  2. If asked, start your 7-day free trial or choose a plan. The trial needs no card. If you already have an account, you skip this step.
  3. Let Plus load your tasks. The page shows progress and takes you back to ChatGPT when it is ready. You can return sooner and try again later.

Ask your first question

Start a chat on chatgpt.com. Use + → Developer mode (or More) to select Plus for Things 3. Try:

  • Use Plus for Things 3: what's in my Things Inbox?

ChatGPT asks you to confirm before it changes a task.

Need help?

  • No Developer mode or Create app? Check that you are on chatgpt.com with a paid plan. A work account's admin may need to allow it.
  • ChatGPT does not use Plus? Select it with + and mention it in your question.
  • Asked to sign in again? Sign in when ChatGPT prompts you. This also happens after you change your Things Cloud password or disconnect Plus.

If sign-in fails, check your Things Cloud email and password in Things. If tasks are still loading, follow the progress page.
